This is me

As the daughter of a Pastor (PKs, where y'all at?!), my faith has always been a big part of my life.  After going off to college and getting a taste of the crazy life, I gave my life to Christ in January 2008 and I haven't been the same since!  My relationship with Jesus has grown every year and I continue to fall in love with His Word and teachings every day! No matter what new shenanigans I think up, I come to pray and ask God, "whatcha think about this, Lord?" and patiently wait for nudges I like to call "God Whispers" to guide me in any life decision. I know deep in my heart that He loves me, care for me and knows the number of hairs on my head - that's love, y'all!

Jesus is my homeboy

Scripture I'm learning this week:

Is it August already?! This week I'm meditating on the concept of purity - purity in thought, words, mind and actions! As I continue to notice the intersections of ancient yoga philosophy and the Bible, when I started studying the Niyama "Saucha", I found my scripture to bring it all back home:

"Protect purity and you protect your life." - Proverbs 16:17 TPT

When I think of and study purity, it's in the way I speak about myself and others, the way my home and body are kept, the food I eat...all that encompasses the concept of "purity", or cleanliness.  Yoga teaches us that when the body is cleansed, the mind purified, and the senses controlled, joyful awareness, needed to realize the inner self, also comes.  Along with that, my bible teaches me that if I want to protect my life, I will protect purity.  I will continually search my heart and mind proactively and cleanse areas that are not like Christ. A pure heart is a receptive heart - are you ready to receive?
