Devotionals

I needed a place to hold all my devotions that I was writing on the home page...this seemed like a good place :-) My prayer is that you read something that inspires you today!

For the last few months, I've been reading Bob Goff's book, "Live in Grace, Walk in Love". It's a daily devotional, which usually isn't my thing (I like to read cover to cover) but it's Bob Goff so...if you haven't read any of his books, do yourself a favor and head to the library! I digress. I love this devotional because there is a funny story and reality of how difficult people view the concept of just loving people! It's encouraged me daily to BE LOVE! That's it. No rituals, chants or duties to be on the street screaming love. Be available and open to loving yourself and your neighbor. Love is action. Going outside of your comfort zone to make life just a little bit better for others. Love is kindness. Showing love is being kind in the face of those that are not kind to you. Love is acceptance. Accepting people right where they are without trying to change them (no matter how different they may be!).

Let everything you do be done in love [motivated and inspired by God’s love for us]. 1 Corinthians 16:14 AMP

What would life look like if EVERYTHING you did was in love?! Eat in love, sleep in love, work in love, play in love and shared your life in love. That type of devotion is rarely experienced. What if, starting today, you embraced interruptions in your day as love pokes from God instead of as an annoyance? I'm talking to myself here as well, especially with my children, who sometimes takes interruptions to the extreme because everything is important, including if they can eat whipped cream and honey for lunch!

My prayer today is that we will pause and reflect on the amazing love that the Father has shown us and focus on how we can be that same love to others. I pray that we can open up our schedules to embrace interruptions and see them as divine appointments. Let us take the time to pray for our neighbors and those that are without a home, food, or income. I pray that we can be the physical hands and feet of Jesus, sharing our love without limits, to those in our sphere of influence! In Jesus name, Amen!

“The generous man [is a source of blessing and] shall be prosperous and enriched, And he who waters will himself be watered [reaping the generosity he has sown].” ‬‬ - Proverbs‬ ‭11:25‬ ‭AMP

I love the many translations of this scripture.   I’ve been so blessed to be a blessing to others and I truly believe it’s a result of being a generous giver of my time, talents, treasures and any other resources!
My parents modeled generosity in their business and in their church giving, however, it didn’t really hit home until I experienced someone else take the scarf off their neck and give it to me! Since that time almost 15 years ago, I’ve delighted in taking off earrings, pulling out my wallet, or sharing my knowledge with others!
And guess what?! It almost always come back to me! I will give away earrings and have someone send me 3 pair because they were thinking about me  *reaping the generosity sown*
What seeds of generosity are you sowing?!? 🤔

December 2021 - "Growing Stronger in Faith"

It only takes a moment to shift your faith. The mind is powerful and thoughts are fleeting. We must intentionally chose to put our faith in the Father to be God in our lives. Trust Him to be God in the work place, at the grocery store, at the doctors office, in the drive thru, and in your home.     1. Be willing to ask.   2. It will take some action - “look at us”. Be ready to do what God tells you to do.   3. Be prepared for getting something better than what you’ve asked for - strength in places where you are weak (v 7).   4. Get up, go to church and praise GodOur response should be to praise God with those who have overcome!   Can we trust that healing, deliverance, salvation, love, joy will come in the waiting period?!

“Now Peter and John went up together to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour. And a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms from those who entered the temple; who, seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, asked for alms. And fixing his eyes on him, with John, Peter said, “Look at us.” So he gave them his attention, expecting to receive something from them. Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. So he, leaping up, stood and walked and entered the temple with them—walking, leaping, and praising God. And all the people saw him walking and praising God. Then they knew that it was he who sat begging alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple; and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.”

January 2022

HAPPY NEW YEAR FRIENDS!  It's that time of year where we will see people proclaim, "New Year, New Me"; I'm more of a "New Year, New Intention" kind of girl.  I've been praying for my next season since the end of October.  I feel like resolutions get lost in the "get slim in 30 days" challenges, so about 8 years ago, I adopted the concept of a single word for the year.  This year, my word is "Anchor", as found in the scripture that is posted on the wall in the yoga studio:

"We have this certain hope like a strong, unbreakable anchor holding our souls to God himself. Our anchor of hope is fastened to the mercy seat in the heavenly realm beyond the sacred threshold"  Hebrews 6:19

My prayer for those that feel like life is tossing them back and forth, is that we will look past this natural realm and continue to anchor ourselves in the love and hope of Jesus Christ!  I'm so glad He sent the Holy Spirit to help us on this journey in life!  When we go down the path of doing it our own way, his gentle (OK, sometimes it's a big push!) spirit will guide us back into our kingdom purpose as we continue to anchor ourselves in His Word.

I pray that you have set intentions or found a word for the year that will anchor you in your personal, business, professional, and spiritual life!
